It is with great gratitude that I send this testimony of what Christian Science has done for me. I did not come to Science for physical healing, but because I was dissatisfied with religion as taught by the orthodox church and could not obtain any satisfactory answers to my questions.
At this period my mother was advised by a relative to try Christian Science for chest trouble of long standing. She soon showed signs of improvement, which greatly impressed me, and I then began attending the services, and for nearly thirteen years I have had many opportunities to prove and demonstrate the healing, regenerating, and protecting power of Christian Science. Colds, catarrh, rheumatism, and throat trouble, which used to attack me frequently during the year, are some of the things which have disappeared with the realization that Truth, and not material sense, is omnipotent. A sprained ankle was quickly overcome by my realizing that "accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind," as our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, says in Science and Health (p. 424), and by repeating "the scientific statement of being" (ibid., p. 468). Previous to taking up the study of Christian Science I had twice sprained my ankle, having to rest the foot for several days and have it bandaged for some months.
One of the things I am most grateful for is the overcoming of grief for the loss of dear ones; a study of our Leader's writings enables one to realize that there is no death, but that Life is everlasting, and that those who have passed on are still about their Father's business. My constant prayer is that I may put into practice what I am learning through Christian Science and to see and know my fellow man as perfect, even as God is perfect. I cannot close this without expressing my very grateful thanks for a greater understanding of true supply and sincere gratitude to the practitioner and friends who have so lovingly helped me along the way; also for class instruction, membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, for the literature, and for all the activities of the movement.
