We read in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures"...
We read in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, on page 494, "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." I have proved this many times.
At the age of three weeks I had what the doctors call spinal meningitis. This left a nervous trouble which affected my hands and my walking. From the time of birth until I was sixteen years of age I had thirteen doctors, including osteopaths and chiropractors, but I could not get much help. I was forced to leave school in the eighth grade. I was so nervous by that time that I could not listen to a conversation in the same room with me, and when the clock struck I would leave my chair. It was hard for me to walk, because I fell down very often. It was while in this state of mind that I heard of Christian Science. I had not thought I could go twenty-four hours without medicine, but since we had lost all faith in it, I stopped using it then, and I have never felt the need of it since.
When I first attended a Christian Science church, a sister always went to church with me and held my hand so I would not jump and disturb people around me. The doctors had told my people that I would never be strong, but I have overcome this thought, and am able to do all kind of domestic duties.
