Star-News

An advertisement in Saturday's issue of the Star-News announced a sermon on the topic, "Is Christian Science Satan's Agent in these Last Days?" Because of the implications of this topic, may I be permitted to give your subscribers some accurate information about Christian Science, so that they can see that the correct answer to the question is an emphatic "No"?

Christian Science accepts without reservation all the words and works of Christ Jesus, and enables mankind to lead more Christly lives and to help others to do so. Through utilizing even a limited understanding of this religion, men and women overcome fear, envy, malice, hatred, deceit, and other wrong tendencies, and become increasingly compassionate, courageous, faithful, truthful, affectionate, and temperate. Christian Science develops purity, wisdom, honesty, health, love, and holiness. Could Satan produce such Christian qualities?

As the teachings of the Bible are studied, assimilated, and practiced in the light of Christian Science, these teachings are made effective in healing the sick, reforming the sinner, and comforting the sorrowful. Thus Christian Scientists observe Jesus' demand and promise, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also."
