The testimonies in our periodicals have so often encouraged...
The testimonies in our periodicals have so often encouraged me that I am sending this in the hope that it will help someone who is trying to awake from a dream of disease or limitation.
About 1890 I had been suffering from gastritis for over a year, and while staying with a friend I had a very bad attack. Our doctor was out of town, and my friend asked me to try Christian Science. I was so miserable and discouraged that I was ready to try anything, so I went to see a practitioner who lived near. She gave me treatment, and when I left said that nothing I ate for dinner that night could hurt me. So I went back and ate things that ordinarily I did not dare touch, thinking I would see if there was anything to this sort of treatment. To my great surprise, there were no bad results. From that day to this I have eaten anything I wanted to, at any hour of the day or night, with no return of the trouble.
I was grateful for the healing, but in those days there were no churches in Chicago, where I was living then, so I did not turn to Science wholeheartedly. However, I used to go occasionally to Christian Science meetings held in a hall, and liked what I heard, but was prejudiced against Mrs. Eddy.
