Dorset County Chronicle
In your recent issue appeared a letter which contained erroneous statements about Christian Science and its Discoverer and Foundr, Mary Baker Eddy, and I shall be glad if you will kindly allow space for this reply.
Your correspondent is incorrect in stating that Mrs. Eddy "was not actually the discoverer of Christian Science." Through searching the Scriptures she found the spiritual law by which Christ Jesus healed the sick, saved sinners, stilled the tempest, and raised the dead. In her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 109), "I wom my way to absolute conclusions through divine revelation, reason, and demonstration." Also, on page 126 of the same book she states: "The Bible has been my only authority. I have had no other guide in 'the straight and narrow way' of Truth."
Mrs. Eddy was a gentle New England woman, deeply religious and spiritually minded. That she was well read and highly educated is fully apprectiated by those who are acquainted with her writings.
