With a deep sense of gratitude for all Christian Science...

With a deep sense of gratitude for all Christian Science has done for me, and for the wonderful help, guidance, and protection which I have received during twenty years or more through the study and application of the teachings of the Bible and of Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, I wish to give this testimony.

I have had several minor physical healings which have been instantaneous, including those of colds, sore throat, burns, injured fingers, and an injured eye; also fear, discord, and limitation have been overcome quickly through the reading of Science and Health.

Another proof of the healing power of Christian Science and of God's ever-presence occurred a few years after I became interested in Science, when I knew very little about it, much less about obtaining help from practitioners. At that time I was reading the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. One night on my way to a Wednesday evening testimony meeting, a passage from Science and Health (p. 473) came to me forcibly, "God is everywhere, and nothing apart from Him is present or has power." I was riding in a trolley with my two sisters. Suddenly the trolley, which was going down a hill, instead of making a curve, headed straight and was thrown fifteen feet from the track, landing on its side. When I realized what had taken place, the passage just quoted was still in my consciousness. We were all able to crawl out through broken glass windows, and I found myself unharmed except for a slight bruise on my forehead. The next day I was able to be about with some bodily weakness, and when the company's doctor called, I met him at the door. He said he had been informed of the accident and had been sent to examine the ones injured. I told him I was one of them. He was astonished and said I ought to be in bed for at least a month for rest and quiet. However, in four days I was able to attend church, walking a distance of a mile, with gratitude in my heart, quoting Jesus' words, "Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me." There were no aftereffects.
