In your issue of October 26 there appeared an article, "Miracles that Baffle Medical Science," by a South African doctor. There is nothing esoteric, nothing sensational, nothing superstitious in Christian Science. It seeks to restore to humanity the power to heal the sick, comfort the brokenhearted, and redeem the sinner, which was demonstrated and taught by Christ Jesus. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy states (Pref., p. xi): "The physical healing of Christian Science results now, as in Jesus' time, from the operation of divine Principle, before which sin and disease lose their reality in human consciousness and disappear as naturally and as necessarily as darkness gives place to light and sin to reformation. Now, as then, these mighty works are not supernatural, but supremely natural." In her books she expounds the rule of the Christ-healing, and in consequence of her elucidation of the Scriptures, thousands today are healing the sick, reforming the sinner, and binding up the broken-hearted.

Christian Science healing differs from all other methods in that it maintains that the only healing power there is, is the power of God. It is the direct result of prayer; therefore the Christian Scientist makes no physical diagnosis, uses no drugs, no physical manipulation, suggestion, or mesmerism. He uses no material remedies, but relies on God alone for physical, mental, and moral healing. He does not surround himself with mystery, he does not claim any supernatural powers—he simply exercises the prerogative bestowed on him to demonstrate the eternal at-one-ment of God and His idea, man.
