We have come to a time when it is vital that we recast our notions as to the meaning of a nation. No nation can longer be looked upon as an end in itself or as a final and complete economic, social, and political unit. Every persistent attempt so to regard a country must end in national suicide. It is just this national suicide which the people of the United States, and those of several other countires as well, are now engaged in attempting to bring to pass by their policies of economic nationalism....
