"Maintain the facts"

A clarion call to every Christian Scientist, specific, direct, and unmistakable in its meaning, is found on page 417 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," where its author, Mary Baker Eddy, writes: "Maintain the facts of Christian Science,—that Spirit is God, and therefore cannot be sick; that what is termed matter cannot be sick; that all causation is Mind, acting through spiritual law. Then hold your ground with the unshaken understanding of Truth and Love, and you will win."

"The facts of Christian Science" which one must maintain are that man, being God's perfect image and likeness, manifests all that God expresses of health, wholeness, and harmony, and that the real man, being spiritual, cannot be sick, for Spirit, God, cannot be sick. Maintaining these facts about the real man, holding them in consciousness, declaring these truths persistently and with understanding, will destroy the sense of disease, injury, impaired activity, or any other discordant condition.

God, Mind, being the only cause, and man being the perfect expression of this one and only cause, it follows logically that sin, sickness, sorrow, discouragement, lack, fear, or other evils of any name or nature, have no cause and are therefore but hallucinations of the fleshly or carnal mind.
