My mother took up the study of Christian Science when I was a young child. For thirty years it has been my religion and my help spiritually, physically, and financially. For all the benefits I have received I feel impelled to give my thanks by a written testimony.
The understanding of God as all-knowing Mind was always my staff to lean upon through my school years. I have been kept free from any severe illness, and various inharmonies that have manifested themselves have been met and overcome through Christian Science. Some of the healings have been of sensitive feet and of a back injured while diving, which took two and a half years to heal completely. Influenza and severe sore throat have been instantaneously healed. A chronic condition of colds that in former days meant weeks of suffering has been overcome. Burns and many other minor ills that present themselves in the daily routine have been healed.
More than all else, I am most grateful for the daily overcoming of ugly traits of character. I had a quick temper, though it never was manifested outwardly. However, I often went to my room and sulked for hours and sometimes would be unhappy for days. I am overcoming the temptation to judge and criticize, and what has been accomplished has been through entertaining thoughts of love and forgiveness. All my life, though unaware of it, I have been under a nervous tension, planning each moment of each day. As a result, I finally found myself a very nervous, irritable young woman. When a loving practitioner pointed out to me that nervousness is sometimes due to self-will, I could see my fault. Now I am trying to let each day be the unfoldment in me of God's will. In proportion to my letting go of planning, I am letting go of nervousness.
