"Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 494). For over twelve years I have proved the truth of this statement which our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, left us, and I am indeed grateful for the many healing proofs I have had.

My first healing stands out most vividly. I had been suffering for over a month with a sore throat in which the soreness had reached such a point that scabs were forming, causing much suffering and discomfort when I swallowed. I had not eaten anything solid for weeks and was in great pain when taking liquids. I knew nothing of Christian Science at this time, but as I had joined my husband's family, who were Christian Scientists, my mother-in-law wanted to know if I should not like to try Science. After talking to a practitioner I took Science and Health and read the chapter on Prayer. I did not understand much until I came to the statement on page 14, "Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual,—neither in nor of matter,—and the body will then utter no complaints." The thought that Life and intelligence are neither in nor of matter arrested my attention, and I realized for the first time that there was no sensation in matter. I pondered that thought deeply and was indeed "absent from the body" and "present with the Lord." I soon feel asleep, and the next morning for breakfast ate dry toast without any discomfort. I had had an instantaneous healing.

Another healing was of an acid condition which was of such a nature as to cause my teeth to turn black and my gums to recede from my teeth and bleed continually. This healing was slower, but as I grew in my understanding and knowledge of God and man's relationship to Him, I was healed with no other help than that of Christian Science.
