Eternal Life

JESUS said, "This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." Human or physical existence does not express eternal life. Eternal life is different from any form of temporal existence that has a beginning and an end, no matter how, far apart the beginning and the end may be.

When we say that two and two makes four, always has made four, and always will make four, no one can intelligently question this or ask, What assurance have you of the eternality of that fact? It is the kind of fact that carries its own irrefutable assurance of unending existence. So, to know God as the great unchanging Principle of the universe upon which all stability of law and fact is based, and the Christ, Truth, which Jesus exemplified, revealing individual man and his unchanging place and function in God's plan, establishes the truth of immortality; and this is eternal life.

To experience eternal life is, then, a present possibility. It is to understand God and man's relationship to Him as the expression of God's being. We learn to understand what Love is by loving, what Mind is by being intelligent, what Life is by living, and so on. We learn to know what the Christ is by being Christlike. Exemplifying this, we experience eternal life here and now, and the immortality of such being is necessarily sure.
