If I Leave All

LORD, what then shall I receive,
If I arise, leave all,
And follow thee?
What shall I be paid,
If I forsake the striving and the fears,
If I forsake the tumult and the tears,
The self-imposed agony?
If steadfast, undismayed,
I leave disquietude
Concerning earthly praise or blame,
And rest myself in Thee?

Thou shalt receive the lifting up
Above all mortal discord—
Thou shalt receive the one great recompense,
The gift of heavenly love—
Thou shalt receive the Consciousness
Of thy immortal loveliness,
Of strength, of life, of peace.

Dear Lord, enable me
Thus to forsake false mortal sense,
And follow Thee.
