In your issue of June 20 there appeared a criticism directed against Christian Scientists and Christian Science churches.
The dominant desire of the Christian Scientist is to understand God. On this understanding of God alone depend all his achievements in the line of health and purification of self. "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you," said Jesus. Here the Master affirmed the presence of an eternal law to be utilized in human experience. Christian Science is showing men how to apply this teaching of the Christ, and enabling them to carry out his command, "Heal the sick," by spiritual means. Thus it is reinstating primitive Christianity.
All classes of people attend Christian Science churches, and the so-called "rich" are few compared with the average class. But all Christian Scientists learn how to become good "givers" because of their gratitude for all the good that has come into their lives through the study of Christian Science.
