The teaching of Christian Science never diverges from the fundamental fact that God is Love—always has been and always will be. "Science and Health with Key to the Sciptures" by Mary Baker Eddy gives a much deeper and more vital meaning to the Scriptures than scholastic theology. It gives that spiritual interpretation of the inspired Word which heals the sick. The truth which Jesus knew, and which he said his followers should know, is, indeed, the truth of redemption, as your correspondent states, but not only from the bondage and servitude of sin, but also from the bondage and servitude to all forms of sickness.

What Jesus knew of God and His laws is what everyone is entitled to know. This truth practiced is salvation. "Work out your own salvation," was the injunction of St. Paul, "for it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure;" and this is the process of salvation in Christian Science. It is a constant gaining of the Mind of Christ, involving a departure from materiality.
