"The eternal God is thy refuge"

HOW blessed, how divinely comforting, is the understanding that there is a sanctuary into which we may enter and find complete safety—absolute security! How fraught with joy the assurance that "the eternal God" is now our refuge, and that here in this present hour "the everlasting arms" are underneath, upholding, guarding, and enfolding us in the tender omnipotence of our heavenly Father! Deep and sincere is the gratitude of those who have, even in a degree, a perception of the protecting and sustaining power of the living God, and who know that in Him they can put their whole heart's trust.

Humanity seems sore beset by dangers and perplexities, and the longing to be safe and secure is as wide as the world and as old as human history. Even after they had seen a very great proof of God's protecting power when they passed through the Red Sea on dry land, the children of Israel murmured against Moses in the wilderness and longed for the flesh pots of Egypt, but Moses' vision was more spiritual than theirs. He could see that the way of deliverance was forward and not backward; and near the end of their wandering in the wilderness, when the promised land was in sight, he gave to them that wonderful statement of divine Truth which has comforted many hearts down through the ages: "The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms."

Christian Scientists are daily studying the Bible in conjuction with the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and are endeavoring to bring their every thought into conformity with the rules and precepts contained therein. The many beautiful and inspiring statements of the Bible shine with a far greater light and hold vastly more of promise for them than ever they did before the study of this Science was begun. Alert Christian Scientists also study the other published works of Mrs. Eddy, and subscribe for and read the periodicals of The Christian Science Publishing Society; and they know that this study of divine Science is immeasurably more important and valuable than any other in which they have ever engaged. They are learning the actual and eternal truth about God, man, and the universe!
