With grateful heart I acknowledge the blessings which...
With grateful heart I acknowledge the blessings which have come to me through the study of Christian Science. My first healing came so swiftly and surely that I hardly realized it was the result of this Science. My neighbor, a Christian Scientist, invited me to attend the Wednesday evening testimony meeting. While on our way I told her that I suffered from sinus trouble. She said, "Divine Love is our Father and knows nothing about sinus trouble, so why should we?" At the meeting I was impressed by a testimony which brought out the fact that sight is mental and not physical. Though at the time I hardly understood the testimony, still this thought clung to me, and I kept thinking of it all evening. My friend told me she would help me and she lent me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I read it until I fell asleep. When morning came I awakened free from pain, and remembered that I had not taken my medicine. The pain did not return and never has. I threw away the medicine I had on hand. Yet at that time I failed to give credit where it was due, and did not see my friend again for a long time.
While living in the country I received free literature from a Christian Science Reading Room in a near-by city, which I read continually. At last it dawned upon me that I had been healed of sinus trouble through Christian Science. I had had operations before that time and they had failed to heal me, the trouble always returning after a few weeks. When I went back to the city I went to see my friend to thank her for what she had done for me. From that day on Christian Science became my helper, my strength and stay. I saw that as Christians we may help each other by seeing ourselves and others as God made us, free from sickness, lack, sorrow, and death.
For countless healings, for a newborn love of the Bible, for membership in The Mother Church, for the privilege of listening to radio addresses on Christian Science, and for the literature I raise my voice in thankful prayer, and hope that my experiences, as related, may help some pilgrim on his joyous journey upward.
