I wish to express my gratitude for the blessing of restored health and the changed outlook on life which I now enjoy through having gained an understanding of Christian Science.

For six years I suffered from terrible cramp in the head, which the physicians called exhaustion of the nerves. This state became so aggravated that I almost totally lost my sight and was unable to continue dressmaking, which is my source of livelihood. When I realized my condition I so raved and raged that I was dangerous to myself and others. Therefore, during a state of unconsciousness, I was removed to a psychopathic hospital where I was kept for a year. There my eyesight improved, but the pains in my head persisted. Nevertheless, on my return home, I took up my work, very much embittered by all my suffering.

At this time I complied with the wish of a dear friend in New York, who had heard that Christian Science services were being held in Budapest, and I attended two or three of them. However, I grasped nothing of what I heard, for I did not understand a word of what was read in German; nor was I in a willing or receptive state of mind to benefit by the spiritual atmosphere. Within a short time I was in a worse physical condition that before and was placed in a hospital for the deranged. Finding myself there made me more morose and desperate than did the illness.
