Christian Science was brought to me over thirty years ago...
Christian Science was brought to me over thirty years ago when I was a very unhappy young boy. From the afternoon when I first heard a relative telling about her healing, I knew that this Science was the truth. I immediately began to read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and to attend church services and Sunday school, knowing that I had found that which would free me from the limitations that seemed to surround me.
A few weeks later I had a bad attack of inflammatory rheumatism, with which I had been previously troubled. I asked for a Christian Science practitioner, and in a little over a week I was completely healed. During the years that followed in high school, college, and later in the war and in business, Christian Science meant for me an increasing freedom, happiness, and dominion. It has answered every question and given me an assurance that cannot be confused by any seeming human perplexity.
My growth has not always been steady, but the absolute conviction that Christian Science is the truth has been a constant protection. Whenever I have realized that any circumstance was tending to take my thought away from Christian Science, the conviction that it is the truth has made me realize that the only thing for me to do is to work more earnestly in this Science. I am grateful too that before leaving high school I joined The Mother Church, that I later could participate in the activities of the Christian Science Society at the university, and that I joined a branch church soon after graduating from college. These steps have all been a help and protection.
