The Power of Christ
It sometimes seems that congeniality is lacking between two or more persons, and this occasionally happens to be the case even between Christian Scientists. Such a state of affairs is the effect of error, and is not true, according to the teaching of Christian Science. Inharmony is error, the anti-Christian belief which misrepresents God's creation, and separates men and nations.
We, as Christian Scientists, know that one can overcome hate, pride, resentment, unkindness, and so on, by keeping steadfastly to the laws and rules of Christian Science. We also know that the result of this overcoming will be the demonstration of mutual understanding, mercy, justice, purity, kindness, tenderness, charitableness, forgiveness, and brotherliness.
Discord, the opposite of peace and harmony, represents ignorance of the eternal Christ, Truth, whereas realization of the truth is the essence of everlasting unity. Discord is the result of the false belief "that life, substance, and intelligence are both mental and material," as Mrs. Eddy points out in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 588). War, the acme of inharmony, the reverse of peace, is unchristian, unscientific; it betrays a belief in many gods, mythology, disobedience to God and to our true selfhood.
