It has long been my sincere desire to send a testimony to our periodicals, the value of which cannot be overestimated, and express my gratitude for and appreciation of Christian Science and its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy.

Eleven years ago, while I was working in a large office, some very trying experiences presented themselves in the form of opposition. I was a new employee in that position, filling the vacancy of someone who had been there for many years. Instead of the older employees assisting me when I needed help, the opposite was the case. I knew nothing of Christian Science, but another new employee in the same department was a Christian Scientist, and her loving, patient attitude was such a beautiful example to me that shortly afterward, when I needed help for a physical difficulty, I eagerly accepted Christian Science without prejudice.

A severe case of tonsillitis manifested itself, and the fear of being absent from my post and getting behind in my work nearly overwhelmed me. This dear Christian Scientist asked me if I should like to try Christian Science, and in my extremity I went to a practitioner and within two hours I was completely healed. The experience showed me, furthermore, that although this friend was also very unhappy in her position, there was a higher work for her to do, which is so important to the Cause of Christian Science, and that is to give "a cup of cold water in Christ's name," as our Leader admonishes us on page 570 of Science and Health. It is not for us to say just what or where our right place is.
