Spiritual Strength
[Original article in German]
In Romans we read, "As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." In reality we are God's children, because we reflect, or express, Spirit, Life, Truth, and Love. What strength this correct view of reflection unfolds to us! In "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 183) Mrs. Eddy has written, "Whatever is possible to God, is possible to man as God's reflection." God is the source of all real intelligence and wisdom, and man is correlated to Him. If we would ponder these facts, realizing that we have no capacity for genuine activity in ourselves alone, but that we can always reflect God, our difficulties and apparent lack of activity would be removed.
On page 187 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" our Leader says, "The divine Mind includes all action and volition, and man in Science is governed by this Mind." It should be our constant endeavor to demonstrate the ability and strength with which God endows His children. In the divine order of creation, God gave man dominion. This includes indestructible, imperishable, individual spiritual capacity.
The essence of true life is divine consciousness, unfolding to us intelligence, wisdom, power, and strength. There is no need with added years to hear less, see less, be less healthy, less strong, or less active, for we can hold to the fact that, in our true being, we coexist with God in eternal perfection. Jesus said, "The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise." There is always an opportunity for right activity. We can at all times express unselfishness, compassion, gentleness, goodness, sincerity, honesty, justice, harmony, obedience, loyalty, purity, and love. Such is the activity of true consciousness, and it unfolds spiritual power. Whoever has grasped the right concept of activity will never lack the opportunity to practice it. Whoever has once felt and known the blessing of right activity will never tire of exercising it.
