The Light of Revelation
Humanity's insistent search for knowledge is largely directed to the analysis of material phenomena. This type of research, though having its uses, is apt to lead human thought into dim labyrinths from which there is no outlet save through the revelation of Spirit.
In "Christian Healing" (p. 8) Mrs. Eddy writes, "The mistaken views entertained of Deity becloud the light of revelation, and suffocate reason by materialism." In the true understanding of Deity there is no suffocation of reason; there is divine logic which satisfies reason. Humanity's profoundest need is to understand the nature of God, perfect cause, and His law of natural Godlikeness. Through this illuminating spiritual research the victims of sin and sickness, poverty and unhappiness, can waken to their heritage of unassailable health, intelligence, and righteousness. These stable conditions rest upon the everlasting foundation of Spirit, and can be found nowhere else. Multitudes around the world are testifying to their gratitude for the healing revelation of Christian Science and for Mary Baker Eddy, the illumined revelator.
Interpreting the light referred to in Genesis, "And God called the light Day," our Leader points out that this is not solar light, but the revelation of Truth and true ideas. Spiritual ideas are independent of hampering superstitions and traditions, or the verdicts of so-called incurable disease and sinful traits. Therefore, those who habitually entertain and utilize these spiritual ideas find that their thoughts, aims, and actions, their health and general standards, their business and recreational activities, are being brought under the control of God, divine Principle.
