The statement by your correspondent that "Christian Science is not Christian, and not a science, but a fanciful woman's brain dream," and, "The Christian Science sect has not its origin from Christ but from the adversary of Christ," is not consistent with the experiences of those healed of sin and sickness through its teachings.

Christian Science is turning the thoughts of men towards God; and it is probably true that there are few in civilized countries today who have not heard of someone healed or benefited by Christian Science who is living a better and more unselfish life as the result.

A Christian Scientist believes in the teachings of Christ Jesus, and aims to follow his example. Christian Science not only proclaims this ideal, but shows how it can be gained, yea, even to emulate the Master's works, which he said will be done by those who believe on him. Hence, Christian Science is a religion of love, not of words, a religion of deeds, not of creeds or of ceremonies. And it is scientific, because it demonstrates what it teaches.

A careful study of the Bible, together with the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, will not fail to show the unprejudiced thinker that Christian Science is based upon God and His Word as taught by Christ Jesus. And Christian Scientists are increasingly grateful to Mrs. Eddy for the correct interpretation of the Bible teachings about God and man contained in her inspired textbook, because it enables them to understand how the divine power utilized by Jesus is available today.

It is this spiritual understanding of the infinite nature of God and of man's scientific unity with Him through the living Christ which Christian Science makes plain, and so reveals a full salvation to all who follow the footsteps of the great Exemplar.

The last tenet of Christian Science, on page 479 of Science and Health, reads as follows: "And we solemnly promise to watch, and pray for that Mind to be in us which was also in Christ Jesus; to do unto others as we would have them do unto us; and to be merciful, just, and pure."
