Since about the age of twelve I had not been well, and...
Since about the age of twelve I had not been well, and had had many examinations, but no cause could be found for my ill-health. At the age of nineteen I took up the study of Christian Science; my condition improved in many ways and my state of thought became less morbid.
After about five years of study, I collapsed and was unable to leave my bed. I wondered why this should happen to me when I was endeavoring to live up to the teachings of Christian Science, but I found that there were physical and mental errors to be uncovered and destroyed. A practitioner worked on the case for three and a half months, but I seemed to be getting worse. When I would wonder, Why am I not healed? these words would come to me, "Be still, and know that I am God." I was very fearful and discouraged and the physical and mental suffering seemed unbearable. Christian Science was the only comfort I had, and what a blessing it was! I finally saw that I should have to make some radical changes in my thinking. It was not easy to cast out false pride, selfishness, hatred, temper, and other traits, but with God's help I was victorious. One morning I awoke feeling a great sense of joy and freedom, and at that time what must have been a very large tumor came away. There was no pain, no soreness of any kind, and no fear. I never felt better in my life and from that moment on went about my duties in the home.
Four and a half months later I experienced a very harmonious childbirth, without a single labor pain. In our home we have had many healings and blessings from the application of Christian Science. It is our only remedy.
