From the ceaseless babelOf the voices of the sons of men,O Lord, deliver us!

Help us to still them in our hearts, O Lord,As Jesus through Thy Word did stillThe tempest that once raged on Galilee,And give us peace in which to worship Thee—In which to listen for Thy voice,And all the sweet and tender voices of Thine angelsThat are ever speaking all around us,If we but hush the harsh, discordant noises of the world,And listen only unto Thee.
