"Come unto me"

Are we burdened with care? Do we seem to be struggling with a sense of lack—lack of employment, lack of health, or lack of happiness? Christ Jesus said, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Oh, let us heed this tender invitation and come to Christ, Truth, for aid. Christian Science is today showing many thousands how they may find a refuge from the world's woes. No matter how dark the way may seem, how large the error may loom, or how great our discouragement may be, as we turn unreservedly to God these difficulties will vanish into nothingness and we shall find that peace "which passeth all understanding." God, divine Love, always provides for all His beloved children, and we should avail ourselves now of Love's abundance.

Are we seeking employment? If so, it is well to remember that there is a constant demand in the world for spiritual qualities. Several years ago, a student of Christian Science found it necessary to look for a position; but the suggestion presented itself that she would never be able to find a suitable place when so many persons of greater ability and wider experience had been without employment for so long. She turned to the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and prayed for enlightenment. The assistance of a Christian Science practitioner was also requested. Then the thought came: What have you to give? As a faithful student of Christian Science, you have been endeavoring to express love, joy, gratitude, intelligence, and obedience in your daily living. Surely the world needs these spiritual qualities more than anything else. Go out, then, and give them to the world!

Gratefully, and with an eager desire to be obedient, the student started forth the following morning with the humble prayer that she might be able to give of the great good that had come to her through her study of Christian Science. The day was a joyous one, and at its close she felt that it had indeed been rich with blessings both for her and for those with whom she had come in contact. The following day a position was offered to her in her own particular field, with a much larger salary than she had anticipated. She has never forgotten the lesson learned from this experience. Putting her whole trust in God, she found Him "a very present help in trouble."
