For a long time I have wanted to express something of my gratitude for all the good that has come into my experience since I began to study Christian Science.

About ten years ago I thought I was one of the most unfortunate and unhappy people in the world, for I had been completely disappointed and disillusioned. But during a train journey from Southampton to London, the only other passenger in the carriage told me something of Christian Science and how it had helped her for over twenty years. She assured me that it could help me.

For some months I had been dissatisfied with the teachings of the church to which I had formerly belonged, and I had been attending services in various churches in the hope of finding comfort and an intelligent explanation of life. As a result of this talk in the train, I attended a service in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and during the silent prayer I first realized the presence of divine Love. Then I knew I had found that which I had been seeking. I went about with the thought that God loved me and cared for me, and that all the unhappy past had been just an illusion. My parents soon noticed that I was more patient, whereas before I had been a most trying person to live with. I became much happier, and consequently so did they.
