Desire

To understand, to love and live all good,
To grasp the blessing of some cleansing fire,
To see as perfect one pure brotherhood,
To do God's work—this is my deep desire.
To heal with love the troubled, restive thought,
To stand with outstretched hands, quick to forgive,
Forgetting all the battles I have fought
And learning from the Christ the way to live,
To strive for greater heights and never tire—
To do my Father's will is my desire.
