Christian Science reveals the spiritual law which underlay the healing works of the prophets, Christ Jesus, his disciples, and the early Christians. The application of the understanding of this law has resulted in the healing of the sick and sinning in hundreds of thousands of cases throughout the civilized world today, in a large number of which every other usually accepted method of healing had previously been tried without avail.

What is the meaning of such words as: "The prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up;" and, "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed"? The last command of Christ Jesus, according to Mark's Gospel, was that his followers should go into all the world and heal the sick (through his spiritual method). This is what Christian Scientists are humbly doing today in the measure of their spiritual understanding.

In one of his books, the late Dr. R. F. Horton wrote: "Mary Baker Eddy ... has done this great service to our race and to our time; she has made the church consider why our Lord came healing all diseases, and why he sent out his disciples to heal as well as preach. She brought the church sharp up with the question: What has become of the ministry of healing?"
