What Do Ye More Than These?

What do ye more than these?
Wouldst thou be found
Returning "eye for eye" or "tooth for tooth"?
Or hast thou learned to go "the second mile,"
Imbued with Love and Truth?
If mortal vengeance thou wouldst fain appease,
What do ye more than these?
What do ye more than these?
Canst thou give love
Where hate and slander seem so manifest?
Hast thou attained the spirit of the Christ
That e'en the "cursing blessed"?
If thou, as Jesus, wouldst the Father please,
What do ye more than these?

What do ye more than these?
Search well thy thought;
Art thou with seeing eyes beholding man
Pure evidence of Love's unchanging love,
Child of His perfect plan?
Then hate must flee e'en as the darkness flees
When ye do more than these!
