This testimony is given in gratitude and appreciation for the many blessings I have received through Christian Science.

A number of years ago I was taken ill with a severe cold, resulting in the breaking of an artery of the lung and a continuous hemorrhage for more than two weeks. Before my recovery had been pronounced complete by the physician, and in spite of his warning that the lung symptom would recur with fatal results, I left my home and came to the United States.

During my first three years in this country my health was gradually failing. A prominent physician diagnosed my case as tubercular infection of the lungs, treated me for a considerable time without my improving, and then advised me to go to a better climate. I was also suffering from severe headaches, pains in the stomach, constipation, and rheumatism. At this period, when all hope for recovery seemed to have vanished and I had reached the state of the weary wanderer, I was given the "cup of cold water in Christ's name," of which Mrs. Eddy speaks in Science and Health (p. 570). A member of the family by which I was then employed told me the good news that God does not make man sick; neither does He know sickness. She then spoke of Christian Science and of its mighty works in healing all manner of disease, and said that I too could be healed if I would give this Science a fair trial.
