It is with heartfelt gratitude for the priceless privilege of being a student of Christian Science that I wish to testify to the efficacy of this Science in the treatment of a serious case of eye trouble. One of my eyes became suddenly very weak, and a small growth appeared on the lower lid close to the eyeball. The lid became badly infected, the eye was very much inflamed most of the time, and the sight was generally impaired. Light was unbearable.

I had had many healings in Christian Science and wished to depend on its ministrations now, but as time passed without any appreciable improvement, the superintendent where I was employed as a teacher insisted upon my consulting an eye specialist. Some members of my family also felt that I should do so.

In her book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy tells us (p. 302), "It is impossible that man should lose aught that is real, when God is all and eternally his." With this assurance, I went to the doctor with the thought that the eye could not be injured, nor sight destroyed. He expressed much concern and displeasure because I had not had medical help sooner, declaring that the case would require a long time to heal. His efforts to help me were commendable, but after about two months the drugs seemed to be having a harmful effect. At this point the sight was almost gone. I decided to discontinue the medical treatments. It now seemed advisable to give up my position and go home to work out the problem in Christian Science.
