About seven years ago I experienced periodic and very serious attacks of gallstones. My husband had learned something about Christian Science from a fellow soldier in the World War, and upon his return from France had purchased the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. However, we did not seriously take up the study of Christian Science until conditions became such that we were truly at "man's extremity," which has been called "God's opportunity." It proved to be so to us. The medical profession pronounced a surgical operation to be the only possible means of relief for me. Not wishing to undergo this experience, and driven by acute suffering, I turned to Christian Science for help. After three treatments by a practitioner I was completely healed and have never experienced the slightest return of the trouble.
Our joy over this healing caused us to seek help for our many other problems. One after another they were overcome, some without specific work being done for the particular problem; but as we studied and grew in understanding of Truth much error was eliminated from our thinking, and when this was accomplished, we ceased to manifest the erroneous physical conditions.
Whenever faithfully applied, Christian Science has met and overcome our problems, no matter what form they assumed. One child in our home was injured while at play. Although no X ray was taken, the opinion of all who saw the condition was that the leg was broken. The help of a practitioner was sought and at the end of a week the child was able to walk; and at the end of four weeks there was not the slightest evidence of a limp. Upon another occasion, the same child was healed of a fever which had caused a wasted condition so that the child became weak. At the end of a week that child was running and expressing the natural activity of a healthy, happy child. The change was phenomenal and scarcely believable, but we know that all things are possible to God. In our family we have experienced healings of chronic constipation, hemorrhoids, fevers, colds, measles, chicken pox, and have been able to demonstrate ample supply.
