The Voice
Are
you weary from long vigil,
Anxious and oppressed?
Hark! the voice is calling, calling:
I will give you rest.
Are temptations still insistent,
Holding you at bay?
Hear the voice—Lo, I am with you;
Watch and pray.
Does it seem a close-drawn battle,
All the long day through?
Hear the voice, oh, hear it calling—
Peace I leave with you.
Do you sigh, Far must I journey
To the promised land?
Hark! the voice—it calls, God's kingdom
Is at hand.
