Christian Science was presented to me at a time when I was seemingly overwhelmed with great financial difficulty. My husband had been without employment for nine months and was very despondent, for we knew not where to turn for help. A kind friend told me of Christian Science and gave me a copy of the Sentinel to read. Words cannot express my gratitude for the spiritual unfoldment that came as I read the helpful and inspiring messages it contained. Wishing to learn more of this truth and to solve the problems confronting me, I visited a Christian Science practitioner and asked for help. This was most generously and lovingly given. My thought was lifted so that I began to let my expectation be of God, infinite good. In a very short time my husband had employment and our financial difficulties faded away.
Shortly after this we had an opportunity to prove the efficacy of Christian Science in a case of accident. One of our young daughters broke her collar bone. The bone was protruding through the skin, and there was a great sense of fear and pain. We immediately declared the truth, and also called a practitioner for help. In a short time the child went quietly to sleep, and when she awoke the bone was in place, all pain and fear had left her, and soon she was well.
Another beautiful healing was that of influenza. I awoke one morning with severe pains throughout my entire body. The condition was so acute that it was impossible for me to get up or to walk, so I tried to read the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. While doing this I remembered that the practitioner had once told me that wherever I was, God was there, and that error could not stand in the presence of God. The spiritual understanding of God's presence and power dawned in my consciousness, and I was instantaneously healed.
