Today
Has
the day seemed long,
Bereft of a song;
Have the hours been fraught with pain
And the whole heart sad,
Too tired to be glad,
And your longing for peace seemed in vain?
Did you ask of Love,
Support from above;
Have you prayed the Father for light,
And known He was near
To quiet all fear,
That you never were out of His sight?
Oh, then you may find
That peace of mind
God gives to the child of His care,
The joy and the health
So far above wealth
That make the world wond'rously fair.
Should the day seem long
And be without song
If God's love with its peace you can know?
The heart must be glad,
It cannot be sad,
Where joy is there cannot be woe.
