Signs of the Times
[Editorial in the Province, British Columbia, Canada]
Small beginnings lead to great things in the life of the individual and sometimes in the life of a community or country. It was in the "little town of Bethlehem" that the one who has made more difference to the world than any other was born; the little country of Palestine was the scene of many of the Bible stories that tell of the small beginnings of the Christian church and the few men who were the leaders in a great movement that has spread to every country and every clime.
Jesus said to his disciples, when they asked him why they could not do a mighty work, "If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed ... nothing shall be impossible unto you." Faith begins in the very same way; but as one finds victory comes through faith, there comes more and more confidence in the power of God to use ... man for His glory. Just as the mighty river begins in the inner spring on the mountaintop, so the great flow of spiritual blessing may begin in the weak faith of one praying alone, in the inner chamber apart, ... but very near to God.
