In gratitude to God for what Christian Science has done for me, I send this testimony. I did not read Mrs. Eddy's textbook, Science and Health, for healing, but because I was not happy in the teaching of the church into which I had been baptized. When I had read to page 30, I realized that God does not send pain or suffering. I had never really believed that God, who is Love, could send illness and trouble.

What the realization that God is good and that His plan for us is health and happiness, indigestion from which I had suffered for many years vanished. Constipation also disappeared, though at two different times I was tempted and took medicine, and each time felt ill. The next time the temptation to take medicine came I resisted it, and four weeks passed without a movement. I persisted trusting God, and during these four weeks I ate and slept and carried on, feeling entirely well, without headache or discomfort of any sort. At times fear crept in, but by realizing that I was God's child and He gives health and strength I was cured, and for more than ten years I have not taken medicine of any sort. Only once in these ten years has a cold developed or a headache tried to appear. This seems wonderful to me, as I used to be subject to bad colds and severe headaches.

Amongst other difficulties healed by my own small understanding of Christian Science have been sprained ankles, inflammation of the bladder, burns, scalds, and the effects of a fall. I had absent treatment one night for a septic hand, when the swelling and pain were very great and left my hand useless. The next morning the swelling and pain had gone, and in the afternoon I was able to dig in my garden.
