Gratitude

Rich blessings fill my every hour,
Love's power protects me from all harm;
I walk secure from every ill,
Held by God's everlasting arm.

Oh, let my thought with gratitude
Be filled, as with a perfume rare!
The grateful memory of good
Can lighten every load of care.

Though error thunders in my ear
Like beat of waves on storm-tossed shore,
Thanksgiving brings the peaceful thought
That gently calms the tumult's roar.

Then may I not unmindful be
Of each day's good, nor cease to feel
The humble gratitude and love
That all earth's pains and sorrows heal.
