Among the Churches

Muizenberg, Cape Province, South Africa (Society).—The Christian Science Society has erected on its ground at the corner of Albertyn Road and Wherry Road, Muizenberg, a church hall to seat about one hundred and fifty, and classrooms adjoining for the Sunday school.

The design has been kept simple throughout, in view of the fact that eventually the whole of the building will be utilized for Sunday school purposes. But although simplicity has been the dominant note, the neat character of the design makes a most harmonious and dignified building. The hall has gabled ends, with gray tiled roof. The gable facing Albertyn Road strikes a very distinctive note, with its semicircular top windows, outlined with red tiles, the lower part of the gable being of red brick, with rough plaster cast work above to the pediment of the gable.

At each side of the porch are built flower boxes, which will give a very bright effect to the entrance. Solid teak paneled doors lead into the vestibule, from which access is obtained to the main hall, the classrooms, and cloakrooms. The lighting is from steel-framed windows, glazed with amber Flemish cathedral glass, which gives a soft, pleasing light.
