Supply Replete

A knowledge of the presence and power of God was a constant assurance of supply not only to the ancient worthies and to Christ Jesus and his disciples, but also to all who turned to them for help. This realization of the presence of God, good, overcame, or took the place of, the sense of lack, whether of money, food, clothes, shelter, time, transportation—in fact, whatever had constituted the human need.

While the Bible records had been preserved down the centuries as true and sacred, yet the present practicability or availability of the truth they set forth was to a great extent doubted until the discovery of Christian Science by Mary Baker Eddy. This revelation furnishes the mainspring to faith, thus bridging the gap between an ineffectual belief in God and practical Christianity.

A young student who through Christian Science had been lifted from a state of invalidism to normal health and activity, was confronted with a financial difficulty which presented itself in a lack of money for operating purposes. As the equity in the project was too small to warrant a loan, it was necessary to look above and beyond the business for a solution. When the prayers for the needed supply were apparently unavailing, it became obvious that a closer communion with God and a better understanding of what constitutes true prayer were necessary.
