I feel very grateful for a growing understanding that God is Love. During the year 1932 fear of lack continually confronted me, becoming especially insistent and alarming when a forward step, involving a big financial risk, was indicated. At this time, almost every night for hours, I would be kept awake by attacks of fear. It would seem impossible to think clearly, and I could only pray to God and go through my favorite hymns. One night when the attack was worse than usual, quite suddenly a sense of peace came to me. It seemed as though I heard a voice in the room saying, "My grace is sufficient for thee;" and I found myself answering, "Thy grace is sufficient for me." This gave me a new sense of the love and nearness of God, which has never left me, and which gave me strength to go forward.

During the eleven years in which I have known of Christian Science, I have been healed of numerous physical ailments, including influenza, scarlet fever, sprained ankle, headaches, and deafness, the healing in many cases being instantaneous. In the family I have also witnessed quick healings of tonsillitis and concussion. One particularly quick healing was of very severe internal pain, when I became unconscious owing to its intensity. In this case a member of my family gave me treatment and I fell asleep. When I awoke about half an hour later I was entirely well, able to eat a good meal and go for a seven-mile walk.

But I am more grateful for healings of many faults of character which have taken place during this time. In this connection, teaching the infant class in Sunday school has been a great help. I am learning that it is love which attracts them and makes them attentive, and that no matter how difficult a child may seem to be when he first comes to Sunday school, it is not long before he responds to loving thoughts.
