Waters of Shiloah

I will rest in quietness, not doubting or complaining,
If it is Thy will that I should wait beside the way;
Or I will go if Love directs, although the path be narrow,
Although the stones may bruise my heel, my footsteps will
not stray;

Down between the little hills and through the shadowed valley,
I will go in willingness, trusting, Lord, in Thee—
Like waters of Shiloah that go softly, very softly,
Though many leagues divide them from the sea.

I will rest in quietness in Thee, my sure foundation,
Thou art still my dwelling place, my counselor and guide;
When the storms are threatening, Thou art still my shelter,
And nothing shall affright me, Lord, for Thou art at my side;
I will hear Thy every Word, and in my sweet at-one-ment
With Thee I'll greet each dawning day in loving harmony—
Like waters of Shiloah that go softly, very softly,
Secure in their at-one-ment with the sea.
