Introductions to Lectures

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (First Church).

Lecturer: Dr. John M. Tutt; introduced by Leon D. Hansen, who said:—

Had someone said to me several years ago, "Some day you will be proud to call yourself a Christian Scientist," I would doubtless have replied, "Never." That probably indicates the prejudices and superstitious beliefs I held about what I thought Christian Science to be. That mountain of prejudice was washed away through an experience which came to a friend of mine who was stricken with typhopneumonia, and was given up to die by his family doctor. One evening the doctor told my friend's brother that the patient had passed the crisis of the disease unsuccessfully, and was rapidly sinking and probably would not live through the night. This brother then turned to Christian Science and called a practitioner several miles away for help. Such immediate and wonderful help was given that my friend arose from his sick bed the next morning, healed, and breakfasted with his brother.
