It is with deep gratitude for Christian Science that I add my testimony to the many that have been a help and an inspiration to me.

The doctors had pronounced my case a malignant growth. My fear was so great that they decided to operate immediately; and later, when that did not prove successful, they resorted to X-ray treatment, which failed to accomplish the desired result. The surgeon said that it was useless to operate any more. Now added to fear was despair. My one desire was to keep my loved ones in ignorance of the nature of my illness, and to end it all quickly. I did not want them to suffer with me.

In my very darkest hour a friend came to me and mentioned Christian Science. For years I had been opposed to what I thought it to be, but this day I was willing to turn to it. I am grateful that the next time I saw the surgeon on the case and mentioned that I thought I should try Christian Science, he said, "I wish you would." I called on a practitioner after that and told her about my fear, also of my opposition to this Science. When I had finished she asked me why I had come to her if that was the way I felt about Christian Science. I told her that it was my only hope. When I expressed my willingness to try to accept it, she lovingly corrected my belief about God, and advised me to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
