Scientific Mastery

A CONVINCING example of the mighty power of the Christ to overcome evils in human experience is given in the Scriptural record of the healing of the centurion's servant. "My servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented," said the centurion to Christ Jesus. "I will come and heal him," was the assuring response of the Master; and the "servant was healed in the selfsame hour."

We often find ourselves in much the same condition of fear regarding our mental servants. When we remember that scientific Christianity, as taught and practiced by Christ Jesus and as revealed through Christian Science, deals entirely with mental cause and effect, we see that our thoughts are servants which we employ in our mental household, our consciousness, and whose activities affect our body, as well as our business, investment, home—whatever is requisite for our well-being and happiness. But because of the many apparent inharmonies in human affairs, we must frequently seek healing for our servants—our thoughts; and Christian Science teaches how this may be accomplished.

False material sense claims to reverse the true relationship between the individual and his thoughts—his mental servants. It denies his ability to utilize spiritual ideas, and thereby attempts to deprive him of his natural right to control his own thoughts. But through spiritual sense this untrue claim is nullified.
