Over ten years ago, through the understanding of a twelve-year-old girl, I experienced my first healing in Christian Science. With my consent, this child read for me from Science and Health, and the evidence of a badly sprained ankle disappeared overnight. I was, however, very contemptuous of what I imagined Christian Science to be, and five years passed before I was led to take up the study for myself. When advised by two specialists to undergo an operation in connection with ectopic gestation, I was persuaded by a friend to have Christian Science treatment instead, and through the work of a practitioner the condition was overcome in a few days. I then began the study of the textbook, and while the truths it contained came to me slowly, at the end of two years I had gained sufficient understanding to be admitted to the membership of a branch church.

Through the study of this Science many discordant physical condition have been overcome, blessings of supply demonstrated, and spiritual unfoldment realized. I am grateful for the guidance and correction which this study brings, also for its help in rearing our three children. My gratitude goes out to the practitioners, always so ready to help us, and to all those who, obedient to Mrs. Eddy's divinely inspired rules, are making it possible for all who will to avail themselves of this "universal panacea" (Science and Health, p. 144).
