It is with great joy and thankfulness that I testify to the healing and regenerating power of Christian Science.

Some nineteen or twenty years ago, though most skeptical about this new religion, I was led to ask a Christian Science practitioner for help for a member of my family who was suffering from an internal fibroid growth and other complications for which an immediate operation was to have been performed; but owing to a weak heart an anesthetic could not be administered. Thus from the standpoint of materia medica nothing whatever could be done to remedy the condition, and the situation seemed hopeless. Though incredulous as to what could be done in such an extreme case, as a last resort I consented to an interview with a practitioner, who pointed out that the only healer is God, and that what He could not do man need not attempt. Treatment was given, and within three days the condition was absolutely healed; and by the end of that week ordinary garments could be worn.

This definite proof of the healing power of Truth impressed me so vividly that I commenced the study of the Christian Science textbook, and at once began to derive wonderful benefit from that study. Since that time my only physician has been God, divine Principle, and my every need has been met.

Prior to becoming interested in Christian Science, I had always relied upon medicines in various forms, especially one which I carried for sciatica, to which I was prone if chilled. This was the first sickness which I had to overcome after taking my stand for Truth. I was seized with a very severe attack one day, and for many hours I fought the agony and, with the small knowledge that I had of the Christ, Truth, endeavored to overcome the error, but without success. Eventually the aid of a practitioner was sought, and within half an hour the pain left me entirely and has never returned.

I was addicted to the use of tobacco, but this obnoxious desire was completely overcome through my realizing that drugs are not necessary to man, made in the image and likeness of God.

The space allowed forbids me to enlarge on the many benefits which have come to me and mine through this wonderful religion of Love, but I cannot conclude without mentioning that I have seen a broken arm set without any surgical or medical aid; pneumonia, influenza, and duodenal ulcers have all given way to the power of Truth. Therefore my heart is filled with unbounded gratitude to our loving Father-Mother God and to our beloved Leader for her wonderful discovery of the healing power of Truth as demonstrated by Christ Jesus. — William S.
