Mount of Prayer

Sweet mount of prayer! With earliest morning lightMy waking thought with joy ascends to thee;Within thy quietude I seek God's face,And always find Him waiting there for me,Waiting to gird me with His strength and power; He knows my need, and that throughout the dayMy trusting heart will turn to Him each hour,And seek His loving counsel all the way.

At noontide, when a multitude of thoughtsWould throng me with demands of strain or stress,The peace I gained in thy clear light at dawnRemains; and with uplifted consciousnessI thank my Father for His constant care,And that, whate'er the evidence may be,Nearer, yet more at one with Him I amBecause my day began with Truth in thee.
